About Us
More Than Just D&D Actual Play Podcast - Your Next Fantasy Experience with Friends
Our Quest
To create authentic role-playing games as stories that remind you why you fell in love with this game in the first place. Every episode, every character, every roll matters because the best adventures happen when real people create extraordinary fictional worlds together.
Built & Supported By
Passionate Role Players
If you grew up on Saturday morning cartoons, stayed up too late reading fantasy novels under the covers, or spent more money than you should have on miniatures you swore you'd paint someday, this show is for you.
If you've ever tried to explain to someone why you care so much about your fictional character, or why that one session from five years ago still gives you chills, you get it.
Whether you are a RPG veteran, fantasy casual or just curious about the hobby, everyone's welcome here!

Roles: Company 1, Company 2
“Jake the GM” Prewitt is the GM and executive producer of The Crittalkers Podcast, an actual play RPG podcast and currently the only one of its kind in Kentucky. Launched in late July 2024, the show has had an overwhelmingly successful start thanks to its unique audiobook-style format.
The current campaign blends 5E Dungeons & Dragons rules with Powered by the Apocalypse principles and other narrative subsystems, creating a rich, story-first experience for listeners.
Jake is a lifelong gamer whose journey began at age 8 in 1988, before he even knew what roleplaying games were.
A neighbor introduced him to storytelling adventures without dice or rules, and he has been hooked ever since. By 13, he had discovered Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition at his local library, and from there, he never looked back.
Over the decades, Jake has become a “forever GM,” running games across the United States, Germany, Iraq, Kansas, and online. As an Army veteran, Jake has taught countless players to dive into D&D, Pathfinder, and other systems such as Monster of the Week, Savage Worlds, Fate, and a variety of PbtA titles. He even served as a Paizo Venture Captain, helping build a thriving Pathfinder community.
Outside of gaming, Jake is a fan of Transformers, Fast & Furious (“Family”), and his real family which includes his wife, two dachshunds, and two cats. He currently resides in southeastern Kentucky, where the adventures of The Crittalkers Podcast continue to grow.

Hi! I am Chris. Much like my co-players, I played RPGs in my youth up until the middle of high school. I didn't play again until I met Jake 15 years later when we were stationed together in the Army.
We played together for about 3 years. When we parted ways I went cold turkey because it is hard to find a good GM.
Fast forward 15 years later, Jake reached out to me on social media to pick up where we left off only this time in podcast land.
I am a traveling man. Although I am originally from Chicago, I have lived in a lot of different places all over the world. I speak two dialects of Farsi, (in case you ever need a translator)!
I am chili head (peppers) so if you want to talk sauce @me. I love RPGs and am learning how to maximize my potential as a player!
I hope to play RPGs long into the sunset with Jake as GM!

Roles: Sir Uther Dukem - The Bard
Hello! My name is Shane. I work at a doctor school although I'm nowhere near as smart as a doctor. In my younger days, I had some experience with improvised acting, thanks to my co-podcaster, Britt.
Imagine if you will, the game show, "Whose Line is it Anyway?" then think of the not-so-talented people trying to imitate it. That would be me.
I've been playing D&D since 2005, when Britt invited me to Jake's house in the middle of nowhere. Britt conveniently did not show but sent all his friends as guinea pigs.
Jake had just moved to town, none of us knew him. He lived in the boonies in Kansas and had responded to an ad we posted for a new GM to run games. Before I arrived at this stranger's house, I thought I was for sure going to get murdered. I survived and am here to tell future generations about my adventures.
Jake has introduced me to countless RPGs by dragging me to game cons or trying out some new game he heard about.
Fun gaming fact: I hate solving puzzles... but here we are, about to play a campaign where we have several BIG mysteries to solve!

Roles: Frey The Rouge
Yo, my name is Britt. I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember. Remember Kid Nikki on the NES? I played that shit for hours.
I got turned on to D&D in college when a friend and I posted a silly ass piece of paper in a tabletop gaming shop saying we were “looking for an experienced DM to show us the ropes.”
As you can imagine, I was hesitant when someone responded. Don’t know what I expected. But Jake is what we got.Fast forward nearly 20 years later and I’ve played several campaigns with him…never to completion because I’m “that” kind of casual.
But I love the game!
.Also, Shane and I have been doing improv together since 2002. That nutty fucker is one of the wildest minds I know. Jake and I have been listening to D&D podcasts for too long, probably.
We finally decided to put our efforts into recording our own sessions. Well, Jake decided. He’s the mastermind and we are the puppets. Watch us dance.
